These interviews were conducted by the SSU Oral History Office under contract with the Illinois Department of Conservation. The project documents the history of the State Bank of Illinois at Shawneetown from 1837 to 1926 through oral history interviews and the identification of known photographs, artifacts and documents. The narrators recall the structure of the bank, its furnishings, apartments, surroundings, the impact of the 1937 Ohio River flood, and the community of Shawneetown. |
