The history of Yellowstone National Park is also documented through a series of audio tapes. These tapes range from sound recordings of thermal features to oral history interviews with park employees. The recording of thermal features began in 1954 and many of the recordings are in 1/4 inch reel-to-reel format. Many of the more recent recordings are in audiocassette format and a player is available for both types.
