Description: The purpose of this research was to study the everyday lives, occupations and attitudes of people who grew up in Kent before the First World War. Five hundred interviews were conducted with men and women from all walks of life and from different parts of the county. One aim of the project was to assess the merits, limitations and difficulties of oral history techniques and to find out the extent to which new historical evidence could be gleaned from these interviews .
