||It is more than fifty years since the conclusion of the Second World War and almost eighty since the end of the First. The sacrifice of these wars and the men and women who gave their lives during the wars is remembered every year on November 11th. But what of survivors: their experiences, their contributions, indeed their lives?
The military oral history projects sponsored through historians Drs. Reg Roy David Stafford and Barnie Singer; and on the initiative of a nurse, Elizabeth Hazlitte, attempt to answer these questions. The evidence they have gathered is recorded on tapes now preserved in the University of Victoria Libraries Special Collections. It is now made accessible through this guide to the military oral history collections.|
