Description: In 1987, I attended a reunion of my father's tank battalion from World War II. After listening to some of the veterans reminiscing, I returned two reunions later with a tape recorder, and began preserving some of their stories. I thought, here I am, immersed in history, and this history is slowly being lost. I also thought, what a great bunch of stories these veterans have to tell, they belong in a book. I began transcribing the tapes and putting together a series of vignettes, confident I would be able to find a publisher.
