Description: Through a partnership between the Heritage Program, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, and the History Department, Portland State University (PSU), a collection of oral history interviews has been compiled to provide a detailed, first-person perspective on national forest management before World War II. As part of a senior-level course in the University Studies core curriculum at PSU, students conducted interviews with individuals involved with the Columbia National Forest in the period before it was renamed Gifford Pinchot National Forest.
