Two interviews conducted on 8-20-1997 and 8-28-1997 with Peter H. Stewart (born 1934). He began teaching school in Edwards, Mississippi, in the fall of 1961. In August 1969, he worked for Friends of Children, a Head Start agency. In 1970, he was executive director of the committee to oversee integration of the city of Jackson, Mississippi. In 1973, he became director of minority affairs for the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
