Title: Catherine Walsh
Document type: Oral history
Accessibility: Free Only
Repository: National University of Ireland, Cork. Irish Center for Migration Studies
Collection: Breaking the Silence
Description: Catherine was born in Co. Wicklow in 1929, the youngest of 3 daughters. Her early life was spent on a mountain farm. Her house was sociable and often full of friends and neighbours. Particularly when the weather was bad the locals would congregate in the house and there would be food, conversation and fun. The house was also a place to listen to the news, music and sport on the wireless and discuss events. Although on a farm, Catherine's father worked outside of the home, in insurance, and would help visitors with letter writing. Her mother worked at home. Both parents had a great interest in politics and religion, which Catherine shares.
