Title: Agnes McFall
Document type: Oral history
Accessibility: Free Only
Repository: National University of Ireland, Cork. Irish Center for Migration Studies
Collection: Breaking the Silence
Description: Agnes McFall has very happy memories of growing up in White Abbey outside Belfast in the 1930s and '40s. Both her mother and father had lost a parent in their early childhood, as a result, they took their parenting role very seriously. Agnes remembers a Christian, well ordered and disciplined but very loving home. There were four girls and one boy in the family, three of whom left Northern Ireland. Two older sisters, Frances and Elizabeth left to work in England and Harry went to work in the South of Ireland. Despite this, they remained a very close-knit family with frequent visits back and forth, especially for occasions such as christenings, weddings and funerals.
