Description: Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson is a pianist, conductor, composer and arranger. Born June 14, 1932 in New York City, Perkinson played piano and trombone in Music and Art High School where he also began conducting and composing. He went on to study composition at the Manhattan School of Music (M.A., 1953), traveled to Holland and attended the Mozarteum (1959-60), led the Calvary Quartet, composed the music for Alvin Ailey's For Bird--With Love, was musical director for the film From Montgomery to Memphis.
