(USMC) William B. Holmes, Jr., originally from Greenville, Texas, served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 until 1965. Bill grew up in Lubbock, TX, and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1962 where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, the U.S. Air Force ROTC program, and the USMC Active Reserve (1961-62). He went to Southeast Asia in 1964 as part of Marine Air Support Squadron 2 (2nd Air Wing) in Okinawa. In May 1965, he was sent with MASS-2 to Da Nang, South Vietnam, where he served as an Air Control Officer until December 1965. OH0357 - part of the William Holmes, Jr. Collection
