(USN, USAF) Don R. Timmer, originally from Tipp City, Ohio, served in the U.S. Air Force. After graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1958, Don worked as a supply officer in Amarillo (Texas) and at McDill AFB (Florida) before undergoing flight training as a navigator at Harlingen AFB. In August 1967, after six years at Lockborne AFB as a navigator in KC-97 and KC-135s doing airborne refueling, he went to Vietnam in August 1967 as a navigator in C-123s flying spraying missions in Operation RANCH HAND. Don was based for two months at Bien Hoa and ten months at Danang, where he also served as a target scheduler. He returned to the U.S. in August 1968 and eventually retired a Lieutenant Colonel after a twenty-one year military career. OH0254 - part of the The Don Timmer Collection
