Dr. Frank G. Gruich was born March 12, 1920 in Biloxi, Mississippi. His parents were Mitchell Gruich and Marie V. Barhonovich, and he is one of four brothers and one sister.
Dr. Gruich graduated from Perkinston Junior College in 1941 as a Special Honor Graduate and followed with a B.S. degree from the University of Mississippi. While in college he was a member of Beta Beta Beta, Honorary Biology Fraternity, Gamma Sigma Epsilon, Honorary Chemistry Fraternity, and the Phi Chi Medical Fraternity. Upon receiving a degree in medicine from Tulane University, he proceeded to Charity Hospital in New Orleans to begin his internship in 1945. At the rank of captain he was discharged with honors from the Medical Corps.
