Description: Mrs. Jane Michie Henry was born August 1, 1919, in Memphis, Tennessee, to George Curtis and Marjorie Parrot Michie; she was one of seven children. At that time her father farmed in Merigold, Mississippi. In 1928, Ms. Henry's father died, and in 1931 her mother moved the family to Cleveland, supporting them by working as a nurse in Greenville. Ms. Henry was graduated from Cleveland High School and attended Delta State University where she majored in business education. She was active in sports and enjoyed social dances held there.
