Mr. Boyce Holleman was born on February 26, 1924 to Clifford and Ruth Holleman of Wiggins. His childhood memories include going to the movies and becoming friends with baseball legend Dizzy Dean. Mr. Holleman enrolled at the Perkinston campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in the fall of 1940. After one year at Perk, Mr. Holleman transferred to the University of Mississippi to pursue the study of law. In July of 1942, he enlisted with the Navy and joined a squadron on the Pacific Coast. Mr. Holleman's plane was hit by enemy fire during the attack on Saipan, and he was subsequently hospitalized for the treatment of the severe burns he received during the mission.
