| Description: |
An early West Marin resident, Nellie was born on a dairy ranch in Tocaloma, where her Swiss parents had settled in the 1860s. Nellie describes life on the ranch, her school at Jewell, her fellow classmates and neighbors, rides to San Rafael on a buckboard carriage, and the early hotels at Olema, Camp Taylor and Tolacoma. She also tells of her courtship and marriage to a neighbor’s son and their life together.
