| Description: |
Frances was the wife of Herbert Rowland (great grandson of Ignacio Pacheco), whom she met in Shanghai in 1937 when Herbert was Chief Purser on the S. S. President Cleveland. Married in San Rafael in 1942, the couple lived in Japan from 1946 to 1953, and then moved to the Pacheco Rancho in 1967. In order to keep 70 acres of their property in agriculture, they started a vineyard in 1970, making Herbert the only estate winemaker in Marin County.
