| Description: |
Charles' father was a foreman at the Remillard Brick Company in Larkspur, once the largest brick manufacturer on the Pacific Coast. Charles describes the San Quentin peninsula as he remembers it, and includes information about brickmaking, the brick scows, the Chinese help and the living facilities. He also tells of outdoor life in San Rafael in the early 1900s. He delineates the sites of old landmarks, now gone, such as the Redding Ranch, Schutzen Park, and the Beatrice Michelena Movie Studio.
