Description: During the period of the Truman Administration (1945-53) Stikker was a member of the Netherlands Government Delegation to the Round Table Conference on the political status of the Netherlands West Indies, 1946; member Round Table Conference with representatives of Indonesia and preparation for the independence of Indonesia, 1948; Netherlands Minister of Foreign Affairs, 1948-52; Netherlands Representative on the Council of the Organization for European Economic Cooperation, 1950; and Chairman, OEEC, 1950-52. Ambassador Stikker later, in addition to service in many other distinguished positions, was Secretary-General of NATO, 1961-64.
