Col. Philip J. Dermer, age 47, started his career with the U.S. Army as a helicopter pilot, and in 1996 became a Middle East Foreign Area Officer Specialist with the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). He is a graduate of the University of Montana,
spent one year as an exchange student at Haifa University, and holds a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University. He served with the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq from May, 2003, until June, 2004, and is currently enrolled at the National Defense University.
